For You Are A Kenyan Child ／ぼくのだいすきなケニアの村

アフリカの絵本ってないかな～と探していたら、出会いました。長年アフリカに暮らしていたというケリークネインさんによる、ケニアの村で暮らす少年の一日を描いた絵本です。今年の小学生の課題図書になっているそうです。『ケニアでは握手してあいさつします。』『ケニアでは虫を食べます』・・（笑）。近い将来、きっと身近な存在になっているアフリカ、いやアフリカに住む人たちの、なにげない日常を垣間見ることができる、ほのぼのとしたお話です。

I came across this picture book when I was looking for an African book. The book shows one day of a Kenyan boy. It is written by Cunnane,Kelly, who had lived in Kenya for a long time. I hear the book is one of assigned reading books for schoolchildren. “In Kenya, we greet someone with shaking hands.” “In Kenya, we eat bugs.” In near future, Africa and African people must become something familiar to us. This is a heartwarming story from which we have a glimpse of casual daily life.

The Story of The Little Mole Who Went in Search of Whodunit ／うんちしたのはだれよ！

コピーライターでもあるドイツ人のヴェルナー・ホルツヴァルト(Werner Holzwarth) さんの作品です。グリム童話から始まって、ドイツの絵本はとてもウィットに富んでいます。この絵本も例外ではないでしょう（笑）。もぐらの絵がかわいくて表情がおもしろく、世界中で愛されている絵本であるのも納得です。あたまにポットリ落とされちゃったもぐらくんの犯人探しはうまくいくのでしょうか。

A German copywriter, Werner Holzwarth wrote the story of this picture book. Beginning with the Grimm Fairy Tales, the picture books made in German have much wit. This book is no exception (laugh). The pictures of a mole are cute and his expressions are also funny. So, it makes sense that the book is loved all around the world. Can the mole find out who fell something on his head?

アメリカの心の原風景

幸せの泉／The Springs of Joy

1915年8月生まれ、93歳で現役絵本作家のターシャ・テューダーさんの詩絵本です。50代半ばからバーモンド州で自給自足の暮らしを始めたというターシャ。「みんなが本当に欲しいのは、物ではなく心の充足です。」というターシャ。「アメリカ人の心を表現する絵」ともいわれるターシャの絵に、彼女自身がきっと大きな影響を受けたのであろう作家や詩人の言葉たちが散りばめられています。こんな素敵なアメリカがずっと受け継がれていって欲しいと願います・・。

This is a poetry picture book and drawn by Tasha Tudor. Born in August, 1915, she is 93 years old and is still today producing some picture books. She started to live off the country in Vermont, America from her mid-50s. She says “What anyone wants is not a thing but a mental satisfaction”. In this picture book, we can enjoy her pictures, which are said to show American people’s mind and the words of her favorite writers and poets, by whom she might be greatly influenced. I wish such great America will have been in all future.

ラチとらいおん／Laci es az oroszlan （ハンガリー語）

たった３色しか使われていないのに、その色合いが絶妙で、一度見たらなんだか気になって忘れられない絵本です。らいおんが「でんぐり返り」する絵がかわいい。主役の男の子「ラチ」は、英語版では「トミー」（タイトル：「Tommy and the lion」）、ドイツ語版では「ルーカス」（タイトル：「Lucas und der Loewe」（または Lucas und der Löwe)）になっています。作者のマレーク・ベロニカさんはドナウ川の真珠と言われるほど美しい街、ハンガリーのブダペストに暮らしています。ベロニカさんのＨＰは英語版のほかに日本語版も選べますので、弱虫なラチに勇気をくれた、キュートならいおんに会いに行ってみてください。

The pictures of this book are drawn by only three colors, but the colorings are so exquisite that they would be unforgettable with just one look. Especially, the pictures that the lion are doing a forward roll are very cute. The leading role of a boy “Laci” is named “Tommy” in English version and “Lucas” in German version. The author Marek Veronika lives in Budapest, Hangary, which is such a beautiful city to be called “Pearl of Donau”. ロシアの文豪トルストイが教えてくれる・・

３びきのくま The Three Bears

もともとはイギリスの民話で、同じようなお話が世界中に広まっています。中でもロシアの文豪トルストイが子供たちの教育！のために書いたというこの絵本は内容もくまの絵も迫力あり。「勝手にひと（くま）ん家にあがりこんで、食べたり寝たりずうずうしい女の子だな。みつかったらどうすんだ」とこっちがびくびくしながら読んだ記憶があります。最後はくま一家にみつかって・・・。宮崎駿がその奥の深さに映画化を断念したという逸話も。（今夏の宮崎駿の最新作、楽しみデス。）

This story was originated in a British folklore and the similar stories have been found all around the world. This picture book, which was arranged by a Russian great writer, Tolstoy, for educational purposes for children, is vigorous both in story and pictures. “The girl steals into other’s house and eats something or uses a bed without apology. What a nerve! She will be in trouble when she gets caught.” When my childhood, I was being worried while reading the story. At last, the girls is found by the bear family of the house, and・・・. Also, there is a side story that famous Hayao Miyazaki gave up to make the story into movie. (I’m looking forward to a new work of him, which will be on the screen in this summer.)

スイスで育った、こねこのぴっち

スイス生まれの作者、ハンス・フィッシャー（1909-1958）が、末娘にせがまれるまま、文も絵も描いた絵本。ちなみに彼の有名な絵本である「ブレーメンの音楽隊」は、長女のクリスマスプレゼントに贈ってあげたものだそうです。素敵なお父さんだな～。あひるの列についていこうとするぴっちの後ろ姿がほほえましくて笑えます。たくさん登場する動物の絵がどれもかわいくて見るだけで癒される絵本です。

Hans Fischer, who was born in Swizerland, wrote and drew this picture book as he was demanded by his youngest daughter. For your information, the famous “Bremen Town Musicians” was written to be presented to his oldest daughter for Christmas. What a nice father! A Pitschi’s back shot to follow some ducks walking in a line is lovely and funny. All the pictures of many animal characters in the book are cute, so you will feel comforted just watching them.

フランスの愛すべきドロボウさん

見た目ちょっと恐い、不思議な黒ずくめの３人が描かれた絵と、「すてきな・・」というタイトルとのギャップに魅かれて手にした絵本は、読み終わるころには目頭がちょっとだけ熱くなった素敵なお話でした。オチはちょっと意外で笑えますが、笑っちゃいけないのかも？笑。著者はフランス生まれのトミー・アングラー(1931～)。翻訳がまた素敵です。

Attracted by the gap between the picture of these curious, a little scary-looking three men that are dressed all in black, and the word “lovely” in the Japanese title, I picked up the picture book at a book store. By the time I finished reading it, I was a little moved to tears due to the impressive story. The punch line of the story is funny and a little surprising (We should not laugh at it?）. The author, Tomi Ungerer (1931~), is born in France. The translation of the story is also excellent and impressive.

The Bucket List：最高の人生の見つけ方

先週の日曜日、関西はとてもいい天気でした〜
５月１０日に公開された「最高の人生の見つけ方」を映画館に
見に行ってきました。

タイトルがあまりにもステキだったものですから・・・。最高の人生の見つけ方、知りたいかどうかって聞かれたなら、「知りたい」って当然思ってしまいますよね〜。

モーガン・フリーマンが、勤勉実直な自動車整備工、カーターを演じ、
ジャック・ニコルソンが大金持ちで傲慢な実業家エドワードを演じています。

同じ病室に居合わせたエドワードとカーターは、互いにガン告知をされます。余命数ヶ月と知った２人は、バケットリストを作成し、冒険の旅に出ます。「the bucket list」は、「死ぬまでにやっておきたいことリスト」のようなものです。

お金はあっても孤独な人生と愛に満たされていてもお金に苦労する人生という２つの生き方を目の当たりにして、人生における優先事項とは何か考え直させられました〜。

It was a lovely day in Kansai area last Sunday.
I went to the theater to watch "Saikouno jinseino
mitsukekata" released on May 10th.

The reason why I watched the movie is that the movie title in Japanese is so attractive.
If you are asked whether you'd like to know the secret of how to find the best life or not, it is quite natural to answer "yes".

Morgan Freeman plays Carter, an elaborate and guileless auto mechanic, and Jack Nicholson plays an arrogant corporate billionaire Edward.

Edward and Carter find themselves sharing a hospital room when each is diagnosed with cancer. Realizing that their time is short, they create a “bucket list” and　embark on an adventurous journey.

A “ bucket list ” is kind of a list of things to do before they depart from this life.
The two way to live, which one is a life of loneliness with plenty of money and another is an  austerity life filled with love, made me rethink what my priorities in life is.

オランダ生まれの超有名な魚

テレビで、水族館で、ひょっとしてダイビング中に、小さい魚が群れて泳いでいるのを見ると、「あ、スイミー」と思ってしまうのは私だけ・・ではないと思います。「ぼくが、めになろう。」大人になったいまでも心の奥に残ることばたちを生んだのは訳者、谷川俊太郎さんです。作者のレオ・レオンニ（1910～1999）は今から98年前、5月5日の子供の日にオランダのアムステルダムで生まれました。彼には他にもたくさん素敵な作品がありますよ。ちなみに私にとってのスイミーは、昔、夜店ですくった「デメキン」かな・・・。

On TV, at an aquarium or perhaps while diving, when I see school of little fish swimming, I can’t help thinking that it is like “Swimmy”. Maybe, I’m not the only one who thinks this way. “I’ll be the eye.”(quote) Such memorable words were created by the translater, Syuntaro Tanigawa. The auther, Leo Leonni, was born in Amsterdam, Netherlands on Children’s day of May, 5, 1910. Many other sweet works are made by him. By the way, “pop-eyed goldfish” is Swimmy for me, which I scooped in a night stall.

スカッとするならスポーツ映画。圧倒的な身体美にクラクラ。

数あるスポーツ映画の中でも,めずらしく体操界に焦点を当てた一風変わったスポーツ映画です。映画の冒頭で、 やり場のない内に秘めた怒りを発散させるかのように、主人公のヘイリーは、マウンテンバイクに乗ったまま家の窓に突っ込んでいきます。

反抗的な十代のヘイリーは、かつて将来を期待された体操選手でした。 冒頭のシーンでの向こう見ずな行為からヘイリーは逮捕され、裁判官から体操アカデミーに参加するよう命じられます。

初めはかたくなに体操をすることに反対するヘイリーですが、反抗と服従の間で葛藤しながらも徐々に体操への情熱を取り戻していきます。

ちなみにタイトルのスティックイット( stick it )は「あきらめずに最後までやり抜く」「我慢する」という意味です。

"Stick it" is a unique sports movie among otheres, set in the rarely visited world of elite gymnastics.The main character, Haley Graham (Missy Peregrym) crashes her mountain bike through a house window as she takes her inner pent-up anger out at the beginning of the movie.

The rebellious teenager, Haley was a once-promising gymnast.She gets arrested for her reckless act in the beginning scene and ordered by the judge to attend gymnastics academy.

She's rigidly opposed to doing gymnastics at first,but gradually rekindles the passion for gymnastics while experiencing emotional turmoil between rebellion and conformity.
